§ Mr. Armstrong:The cost of rewiring existing dwellings to modern standards will vary according to circumstances, but I am advised that a reasonable figure would be £400.
Wiring installed more than about 30 years ago may need renewal; this could involve up to 7 or 8 million dwellings and a total cost of the order of £3,000 million.
