HC Deb 27 November 1978 vol 959 cc10-1W
Mr. Litterick

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons convicted of offences in Northern Ireland are currently serving their sentences in English, Scottish or Welsh prisons.

Dr. Summerskill:

Information in the form requested could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. Of the sentenced persons transferred from Northern Ireland since 1st April 1976, however, seven were serving sentences in Prison Department establishments in England and Wales on 16th November 1978.

I understand from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland that two such persons were serving sentences in Scottish establishments on the same date.
