§ Mr. Rhodes Jamesasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has initiated inquiries into the disappointing 656W performance of the RAF Vulcan bomber team in the recent "Giant Voice" bombing competition at Barksdale Air Force base, Louisiana; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Wellbeloved"Giant Voice" is the annual United States Air Force Strategic Air Command bombing/navigation competition. This year the RAF competitors were four Vulcan crews, of whom the highest placed came sixteenth among 21 finalists out of a total of over 300 competing crews. Far from being disappointing, this was a creditable performance.
