HL Deb 21 November 1978 vol 396 cc970-1WA
Lord BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will withdraw from Scottish Prison Regulations the provision permitting disciplinary diets, thus bringing the practice in Scotland into accord with the Regulations for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (Lord Kirkhill)

It is the intention to do so at a convenient opportunity for the revision of the rules. Special diets have not been used as a punishment in the Scottish penal system since 1971.
