§ Mr. Crawfordasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the implications for the expansion of the Scottish economy of the recently published survey on Scottish exports by the Scottish Council (Development and Industry), which shows that 356W between 1974 and 1977 manufactured exports rose by 24 per cent. in real terms in Scotland compared with 14 per cent. in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieThe survey by the Scottish Council (Development and Industry) is a welcome addition to the available information on Scotland's economic performance. While survey techniques inevitably produce only approximate results, it is very encouraging to find that the already strong export record of Scottish companies has improved over the years in question. Continuing export success in the future is vital to the prospects for the economy, and the Government are providing every support to companies in their endeavour to penetrate overseas markets.
