§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what has been the total cost of running the Computer Board for Universities and Research 396W Councils, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsI refer the hon. Member to the Appropriation Accounts (Volume 3: Class X Vote 1 Section C) 1976–77 and to the Supply Estimates 1978–79 (Class X Vote I Section C), which show grants to universities towards capital and additional recurrent expenditure on computers. The figures exclude the administrative costs of the Computer Board for Universities and Research Councils, which in 1978–79 are estimated to amount to about £132,000 at 1977 prices.
