HC Deb 04 May 1978 vol 949 cc262-3W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the total cost of running the industrial training boards, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on their own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the provisional figure for 1977–78 for funds provided by the Commission for the industrial training boards is £83.6 million. The estimate for 1978–79 is £82.8 million. These amounts include £13.2 million and £31.8 million in 1977–78 and £16.8 million and £26.1 million in 1978–79 for expenditure respectively on key training activities and special training measures, but exclude support for industry provided by ITB's from funds levied by them.
