HC Deb 04 May 1978 vol 949 c223W
43. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish the quarterly figures for the last two years of those who have applied to become patrials and those who have been registered as such and separately the corresponding figures of those who are of Bangladesh, Indian or Pakistan origin.

Dr. Summerskill

A person is patrial if he meets the requirements of Section 2 of the Immigration Act 1971. The questions of application and registration do not arise. My right hon. Friend may, however, have in mind persons who are citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies by registration or naturalisation in the United Kingdom and so patrial by virtue of Section 2(1)(a) of the Act, and I shall write to him with the available information as soon as possible.
