HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 c694W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that since its inception the Equal Opportunties Commission has had 12,000 approaches to deal with alleged discrimination and so forth, and, taking account of the costs of salaries, expenses and upkeep of the Commission since its inception, what is the average cost of dealing with each of these 12,000 complaints.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

This is a matter for the Commission, which is responsible for the day-to-day conduct of its business. It tells me that it is not possible to identify separately the cost of this aspect of its work.
