asked Her Majesty's Government:

What the defence and financial arrangements will be for the Tuvalu Islands after the granting of their independence.

There will be no defence arrangement with Tuvalu after independence.

The financial arrangements provide for a Special Development Fund of £2.5 million, Development Aid of £2.62 million for 1978–80, Budgetary Aid and continued technical co-operation. Full details are in the Conference Report which will be laid before the House.
