HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 c23W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he is prepared to permit the unrestricted export of natural gas liquids and liquid petroleum gases.

Dr. J. Dickson Mabon

There is no legal impediment to the export of natural gas liquids from the United Kingdom.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy, in the event of market conditions being such that the United Kingdom petrochemical industry may not be ready to use substantial supplies of local natural gas liquids, what use he recommends should be made of the heavier gases.

Dr. J. Dickson Mabon

Where the United Kingdom petrochemical industry is not able to make use of supplies of associated natural gas liquids brought ashore from the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea the Government always seek to ensure that these are disposed of on terms that bring the best return to this country.
