HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 c66W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what acreage of land was acquired by the Antrim and Ballymena New Towns Commission; how much it cost; and how much was undeveloped.

Mr. Carter

At the date of its dissolution, the Antrim and Ballymena Development Commission had acquired some 500 acres of land by agreement for new town development. In addition, the former Ministry of Development had vested some 2,500 acres for the same purpose. Some 1,300 acres remained undeveloped when the Commission was dissolved.

It is not possible to state the total cost of acquisition, principally because many claims for compensation had not been settled at the time of dissolution of the Commission and a number of them still remain to be settled.
