Mr. Parkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what arrangements are being made to administer the Export Credits Guarantee Department's cost escalation scheme in a manner consistent with the Government's pay guidelines.

I refer the hon. Member to the statement I made to the Standing Committee on Statutory Instruments on 28th February 1978. If an applicant is in breach of the pay guidelines, this will be taken into account when considering the application. In all cases, cover will be restricted to the maximum wage cost increases permitted under pay guidelines. Major sub-contractors will be included in these arrangements.
