HC Deb 29 June 1978 vol 952 cc627-8W
Mr. Bidwell

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection why the Price Commission's inquiry into taxi fares is delayed; and if the delay will be taken into account when findings are eventually made by recommendation.

Mr. Maclennan

The principal reason for the extension in time allowed to the Price Commission to complete its examination was that the Commission's staff were fully committed to other investigations and examinations at the time the direction was made, and a start on the cab fares examination had to be delayed. My right hon. Friend will decide what action needs to be taken on the report when it is presented to him and when interested parties have submitted representations.
