HC Deb 29 June 1978 vol 952 cc683-4W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what percentage of total United Kingdom food production is represented by poultry and egg products.

Mr. Bishop

I refer the hon. Member to the Annual Review of Agriculture 1978—Cmnd. 7058—which in Table 21 shows that the value of output of eggs and poultry represented about 13 per cent. of the estimate of total agricultural output in 1977. Total agricultural output in this context includes wool, flowers and bulbs, and other minor non-food items.
