Mr. Holland

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state in the Official Report the number of public bodies, excluding departmental committees but including statutory corporations, to which he makes paid appointments, the total number of such appointments and the estimated total cost to public funds for the last year for which information is available.

Mr. Healey,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 28th June 1978; Vol. 952, c. 590–1], gave the following answer:

In my capacity as Chancellor of the Exchequer I am responsible for the five part-time paid appointments to the Review Board for Government Contracts. The salaries of the members of the review board total £7,400 per annum. The total cost of the board for the year ended 31st July 1977, the last year for which the information is available, was£33,929.
