§ Mr. Kinnockasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, following the recent decision of the Chilean Government to permit entry to the United Nations working group on human rights, what is Her Majesty's Government's attitude to that Government; and if he will make a statement.
§ Dr. OwenThe Government have for some time urged the Chilean authorities to admit the United Nations Human Rights Commission's ad hoc working group on human rights in Chile. We hope that the visit will contribute effectively to an improvement in the human rights situation. Our attitude towards the Chilean Government will, however, depend upon real progress being made.
