§ Mr. Steenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will make a statement about the tonnage of goods from the United Kingdom which was stopped at French ports of entry for failing to comply with European Economic Community regulations with regard to the preparation and packaging of meat products;
(2) if he will make a statement about the tonnage of goods from the Common Market countries which have been stopped at ports of entry into the United Kingdom for failing to comply with European Economic Community regulations with regard to the preparation and packaging of meat products.
§ Mr. StrangTrade in meat products is not yet subject to EEC regulations; the directive on health problems affecting intra-Community trade in meat products (77/99/EEC) takes effect from 1st July 1979.
No central record is kept of meat products stopped by local port health authorities in the United Kingdom and we, are not informed of meat products stopped by the French authorities.
