Q38. Mr. Grimond

asked the Prime Minister if he will list the names of the chairmen and members of the Royal Commissions who have been paid salaries in the last five years, with the amounts paid.

The Prime Minister

The only salaried Commission is the Royal Commission on the distribution of income and wealth. The current membership is Lord Diamond—chairman, Professor J. Greve, Professor D. E. C. Wedderburn, Sir Neville Butterworth, Mr. D. E. Lea, Professor A. B. Atkinson, Mr. A. M. G. Christopher and Mr. D. Vanderweycr. Past members were Professor P. Brown, Mr. G. H. Doughty, Mr. L. Murphy and Mr. R. A. Cox. The chairman's current annual salary is £14,104; members receive an annual salary of £1,000.
