I was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of my Department, Sir James Hamilton, the Senior Chief Inspector, Miss Sheila Browne and my private secretary, Mr. S. R. C. Jones.
I left China on 24th July to return to London, but my officials will remain there until 30th July to complete the arranged programme returning via Hong Kong on 31st July.
Accommodation in China was provided by the Chinese Government. Costs falling on public funds represented fares and subsistence, totalling £6,500.
