Conversions to sterling have been made at the budget unit of account rate of 2.4 ua = £1 applicable in 1977.

Notes:

(1) Expenditure on distillation of wine and secondary by-products of wine making.

(2) Tobacco has been excluded from the table since it is not a foodstuff.

(3) Intervention costs have been excluded from the table except where it has been possible to identify specific disposal costs; in those cases they are included as "subsidised sales". This heading also includes all forms of aid to sale or processing.
