HC Deb 27 July 1978 vol 954 cc915-6W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the average, highest and lowest rents now being received by the Department of Agriculture in Northern Ireland for houses let by the Department by tender in each of the last three years; and how these rents compare with Housing Executive dwellings of similar standard and location.

Mr. Concannon,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 25th July 1978], gave the following answer:

The information requested is as follows:—

Weekly Rent
Lowest Highest Average
£ £ £
1976 1.90 14.00 4.20
1977 1.90 14.00 4.90
1978 1.90 12.00 5.45

It is not possible to make direct comparisons with houses owned by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive because of the wide variety and locations of the houses owned by the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland. However, the average rents of Housing Executive dwellings for the years 1976, 1977 and 1978, are £32.5, £4.11 and £4.66, respectively.
