§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will institute the regular compilation and publication of statistics relating to accidents in the school environment.
§ Miss Margaret JacksonThe regular collection of useful statistics on school accidents would impose a considerable816W extra burden on schools and local education authorities. My right hon. Friend considers that the work involved in collecting such statistics would not be justified and that greater benefits accrue from concentrating efforts on practical measures to ensure safe working in schools.
