§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsNon-metropolitan counties and metropolitan districts each make 35 different returns of statistical information to my Department annually; most of the returns also serve administrative purposes. These authorities also make returns of a purely administrative nature as the occasion demands. In addition, my Department may mount a small number of ad hoc surveys to local education authorities in a year. No returns are made by metropolitan countries or non-metropolitan districts.
