HL Deb 10 July 1978 vol 394 c1425WA
Lord BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What contributions the Banaban community made (a) in copra to the British war effort in World War I (and what was its value): (b) to the war effort in World War II: and (c) to the bombed cities of Plymouth and Portsmouth in March 1947.

Lord GORONWY-ROBERTS

I acknowledge the feelings of loyalty towards Britain among the Banabans during the two wars but regret that no official information on the amounts of their wartime contributions is readily available.
