§ 33. Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Employment why expenditure on measures to promote employment was less than originally planned in 1976–77; and what is the estimated position for 1977–78.
§ Mr. GoldingExpenditure on special employment measures in 1976–77 was less than originally planned principally because demand for assistance under these measures took longer to build up than expected. Estimated expenditure for 1977–78 is £402 million, which is likely to be substantially achieved.
