HC Deb 30 January 1978 vol 943 c45W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many men and women over the age of 80 years living in the region containing Coventry, North-East constituency have been granted pensions under Section 11 of the National Insurance (Old Person's and Widow's Pensions) Act.

Mr. Orme

I understand that my hon. Friend has in mind the number of people over the age of 80 who are receiving non-contributory retirement pensions under Section 39 of the Social Security Act 1975. I regret that this information is not available on a regional basis, but in November 1976, the latest date for which figures are available, there were about 9,500 men and 67,500 women over 80 receiving these pensions in Great Britain.
