asked the Secretary of State for Defence further to the reply to the hon. Member for Surrey, North-West, Official Report, 16th January, column 49, what is the agreed minimum aim expressed as a percentage of the total contract value with McDonnell Douglas, in respect of the Harpoon weapon programme for the Royal Navy.

Within the framework of the United States-United Kingdom Memorandum of Understanding on Reciprocal Defence Procurement, the United States Government have undertaken to use their best endeavours to see that as much offset as possible comes to the United Kingdom, with a minimum aim of 30 per cent.
