§ Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Fond if he will publish in the Official Report his estimate of price increases, item by item, as a result of the decision of the House for 7½ per cent. devaluation of the green pound.
§ Mr. BishopI estimate that devaluation of the green pound by 7½ per cent. would give rise over a period of time to the following increases in retail prices.
- Butter—4½p per lb.
- Cheddar cheese—4½p per lb.
- Beef—2p per lb.
- Pork—1p per lb.
- Bacon—1½p per lb.
- Broilers—½p per lb.
- Eggs—1p per dozen—Grade 4.
- Bread—½p per standard loaf.
- Sugar—1½p per kg
