§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in which member countries of the EEC British subjects resident in those countries will be able to cast a vote in the direct elections to the European Parliament.
§ Mr. JohnI understand that the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands will extend the franchise for their elections to the European Assembly to all EEC nationals resident in those countries. The European Assembly Elections Bill now before Parliament proposes that in the United Kingdom the franchise should be the same as for elections to Westminster, with the addition of peers.
