HC Deb 27 February 1978 vol 945 c6W
Mr. Michael Spicer

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received concerning the instructions sent out by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to police stations that they should not in future provide information to insurance companies and loss adjusters with respect to the recovery of stolen property.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Four letters have been received about the decision of chief officers of police, whose responsibility this is, that routine information can no longer be supplied to insurance companies in connection with loss, theft or burglaries.
