Department are authorised, when considering requests from manufacturers for loans from public funds, to make approval conditional upon the purchase of machine tools or other equipment of British origin rather than from other EEC countries.

No. The choice of equipment most suitable for a project's success, and hence to achieve the purposes for which assistance in any form is provided, lies with the applicant company. British suppliers have a full and fair opportunity to meet orders arising from assisted projects, and in general secure some 75 per cent, of such orders.
