asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimates he has made of the effect on Scottish unemployment of the withdrawal of the regional employment premium.

It is not practicable to isolate precisely the effects of the withdrawal of REP, but the Government are confident that the employment-creating measures which they have introduced will have a greater effect in relieving unemployment.
