asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many children of immigrant families are known to have left the United Kingdom in each of the past four years, aged 12 years, or under.

The information requested is not available. However, estimates of the numbers of Commonwealth citizens and aliens aged under 15 who emigrated in the years 1973 to 1976 are as follows: (the figures exclude all children who hold or have acquired United Kingdom citizenship).

An emigrant is defined as a person who, having lived in the United Kingdom for a year or more, intends, on leaving, to live abroad for at least a year. Emigrants to the Irish Republic are excluded. The source of these data is the International Passenger Survey.
