§ Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) why public funds have been used to support the commercial exploitation of specialised anti-smoking products like MD4;
(2) what tests have been undertaken by his Department to indicate the safety and efficiency of the proprietary anti-smoking products known as MD4.
§ Mr. MoylePublic funds have not been used for the purpose to which the hon. Member refers. I assume he has in mind the contents of an anti-smoking package being distributed by a television company to viewers who had responded to a programme broadcast by that company.
The costs of distributing the approved contents of that package were supported
266WAct 1959, with particular reference to instruction orders on mentally disturbed offenders; and when he expects the White Paper on the reform of the Act to be published.
