§ Mr. Eldon Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish the names of the companies known to him to have closed down or reduced their labour force by more than 20 persons in the Haverhill, Bury St. Edmunds and Newmarket employment areas since March 1974.
§ Mr. GoldingComprehensive information of the kind requested is not available. However, I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that 15 employers in the Haverhill, Bury St. Edmunds and Newmarket employment office areas have notified redundancies as due to occur of more than 20 persons since March 1974. It is known that four of these redundancies were the result of firms closing down. The information is often provided to the Commission in confidence and I therefore do not feel justified in publishing the names of the firms involved.
