HC Deb 02 February 1978 vol 943 c320W
Mr. Hicks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the reply to the hon. Member for Moray and Nairn (Mrs. Ewing) Official Report, 20th January 1978, c. 376–7, his Department is no longer considering any sites in Cornwall for the long-term storage or disposal of nuclear waste; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Shore

More research will be needed before we could begin to consider new sites for the long-term storage or disposal of high level radioactive waste. I am not at present considering any new locations in the United Kingdom.
