Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current number of National Health Service dentists practising in Cambridgeshire; and what is the most recent ratio of patients to dentists: (a) in Cambridgeshire, (b) in the counties of East Anglia, and (c) in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Moyle

At 30th September 1977 there were 110 dentists practising in the general dental services in Cambridgeshire. On the latest available information, the population per dentist is 5,028 in Cambridgeshire, 4,599 in Norfolk, 4,150 in Suffolk and 4,612 in Essex. The United Kingdom ratio is not available but that for Great Britain is 4,084.
