HC Deb 02 February 1978 vol 943 c322W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what procedural and administrative changes are envisaged in the working of the Welsh Office, in connection with the transfer to him of agricultural responsibility in Wales; and what progress has been made in effecting these changes.

Mr. John Morris

All necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that the transfer is carried out smoothly and efficiently. I do not anticipate that any major alterations in procedural or administrative practice will be required.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the current total number of staff with agricultural responsibilities employed in the Welsh Office; and how many extra staff will be employed after the transfer to him of agricultural responsibility in Wales.

Mr. John Morris

None at present. If the supply estimates for 1978–79 are approved by Parliament, it is estimated that about 820 additional staff will be employed, the majority of whom will transfer with their work.
