§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will pub- 636W lish in the Official Reportas much detailed information as may be readily available giving the wages and conditions, and or expense allowances of chairmen and members of stated Government boards and like public bodies in 1964 ; and what these office-holders were receiving in October 1978.
§ Mr. Charles R. Morris:I refer my hon. Friend to a number of published documents which contain such information on these matters as is readily available. The only information of the kind requested in the first part of the Question which is readily available is that published in December 1963 in the White Paper on public boards—Cmnd. 2241. This lists the members of public boards of a commercial character as at 1st November 1963 with their salaries and allowances. However, this information was not updated in 1964. The latest White Paper in this series—Cmnd. 7417 —setting out the position as at 1st December 1978, was published on 20th December 1978. A more comprehensive guide to the pay of members of public bodies generally as at 1st December 1978, is provided by the "Directory of Paid Public Appointments made by Ministers 1978 ". However, the first edition of the directory was published in 1976 and the same information for earlier years is not readily available.
