Professional Consultants (Reports)

Mr. Grylls

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the subjects on which professional consultants' reports were commissioned by the Treasury and the total cost to the Treasury in each of the years 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 and so far in 1978.

Mr. Robert Sheldon:

Professional consultants reports commissioned by the Treasury since 1974 are:

pensions to public employees ; and if he can give an estimate for the year 1978–79.

I will let the hon. Member have a reply as soon as possible.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total amount paid in the years 1975–76, 1976–77, 1977–78 and the estimate for 1978–79 in salaries and pensions for all employees in the public sector, including the nationalised industries.
