Mr. Allen McKayMasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the fact that a police constable on entry at 18 years now receives £4,000 per annum and a probation officer with post-graduate teaching and two years work experience receives less than that amount, he will seek to introduce a substantial improvement in rates of pay in the probation service.
