HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 c543W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what proposals he has received from British Railways for the capital provision for the extension of the service of the high-speed train to Hull: and what reply he has sent.

Mr. William Rodgers:

None since 1974, when the Railways Board submitted proposals for 42 high speed trains to provide services from Cleethorpes, Edinburgh, Hull and Leeds to London and various intermediate stations, and the construction of 32 was authorised. It is for the board to decide how these high speed trains can best be deployed on their east coast main line services.
