HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 c553W
Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will examine the feasibility of a concessionary fares scheme for young people to enable them to travel to central London to fill job vacancies.

Mr. Horam:

Support for public transport and concessionary fares stands at over £700 million in the current financial year, which is sufficient to provide services at a reasonable level of fare and concessions for the elderly, the blind and the disabled. Any other reduced fare schemes must be a matter for the commercial judgment of transport operators.
