HC Deb 15 December 1978 vol 960 c430W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he has any plans to announce model rules for the showing of cinematograph films to the public under the Cinematograph Acts 1909 and 1952;

(2) if he will produce new regulations governing the showing of cinematograph films in cinemas under the Cinematograph Acts 1909 and 1952.

Mr. Merlyn Rees:

Powers to control the public exhibition of films rest with cinema licensing authorities and I have no power to regulate the way they exercise their discretion. Model licensing conditions were last revised following agreement between the interested parties in 1970 and I have no plans to initiate any further revision pending the report of the Williams committee on Obscenity and Film Censorship.
