HC Deb 13 December 1978 vol 960 cc238-9W
Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in theOfficial Reporta timetable showing the proposed new completion dates for the remaining phases of the district general hospital in King's Lynn; and what provision will be made for geriatric care in the new plans.

Mr. Moyle:

The construction of phase II of the King's Lynn district general hospital is on schedule and the present expectation is that building works will be completed by July 1979 and the accommodation ready for occupation in the summer of 1980. This phase includes 52 beds for the assessment of geriatric patients and a 60-place day hospital for the elderly.

The proposed next phase of development is a ward block containing beds for 160 long-stay geriatric patients. The timing of this development is a matter for the East Anglian regional health authority which, I understand, will shortly be considering a draft programme of capital works to be undertaken during the years 1979 to 1988 in the region as a whole.
