§ Mr. Hollandasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether any part of the 91.8 per cent. increase during the past two years in the annual pay of the chairman of the Housing Corporation was due to an adjustment of the time input basis of calculation; and, if so, if he will specify the change in the input basis and the increase in annual gross emoluments directly attributable to this.
§ Mr. Shore:The salary increase of 91.8 per cent. covered the period from 1972 to 1978. Between 1973 and 1977 the then chairman of the corporation chose to serve unpaid and no salary revisions were made. When the present chairman took office in May 1977, the salary was adjusted to take account of this and of the increased responsibilities which the corporation had assumed following the passing of the Housing Act 1974. There has been no change in the time input basis of the post.
§ Mr. Hollandasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report the full-time occupation and the part-time official appointments held by the chairman of the Housing Corporation.
§ Mr. Shore:Sir Lou Sherman, the chair- man of the Housing Corporation, is re- tired and has no full-time occupation. also holds the post of deputy chairman of the Harlow Development Corporation and is a magistrate.
