HC Deb 07 December 1978 vol 959 cc784-5W
Mr. Pattie

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will now extend the fair rents legislation to include occupiers of mobile homes.

Mr. Armstrong

No. The report of the mobile homes review concluded that the Rent Act provisions were not well suited to regulate pitch rents for owner-occupied mobile homes, and recommended a new legislative approach which would impose statutory implied terms in contracts, covering such matters as charges.

Where mobile homes are rented, Rent Act protection already applies, depending on the circumstances of the case.
