HC Deb 03 August 1978 vol 955 cc755-6W
Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) when he intends to publish proposals for the Home Office building, Whitehall;

(2) when he intends to publish proposals for the Foreign Office building, including the restoration of the historic interiors and the Great Courtyard and the Durbar Court.

Mr. Marks

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 2nd August 1978], gave the following information:

As I announced in the House last November, a limited programme of work has been set in hand on the improvement and modernisation of the old public offices over the next few years. The existing façades and as many as possible of the fine interiors will be preserved. The stonework of the Great Courtyard is being cleaned and repaired. The full extent of the programme is still under consideration.
