HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 cc343-4W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he intends to make any statement outlining the position of Her Majesty's Government on the forthcoming United Nations conference on racism in Geneva; and what will be the response of the British delegation should efforts be made to raise the "Zionism equals Racism" issue.

Mr. Luard

Her Majesty's Government hope that the World Conference to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination will make a positive contribution to the promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms and to the elimination of racial discrimination. Together with our partners in the Nine, we have consistently opposed the contention that "Zionism equals Racism" and shall continue to do so.
